Killer Of Imo Nursing Student Confesses, Says He And Another Gang-Raped Her Before Beheading

A suspect arrested in connection with the gruesome killing of a nursing student in Imo State has allegedly confessed that he and another gang member raped the victim before she was murdered.

A source in the community disclosed that the suspect later confessed during a video interview which has since gone viral on social media.

According to the source, Achumba had been living alone in the apartment after her two roommates travelled for their nursing practical experience.

“She was the only one in the house. The owner of the house is based in America. There were three students occupying the house, but two went for their nursing experience, leaving only her in the compound,” the source said.

In the alleged confession, Okonkwo claimed that he and another suspect identified simply as Emmanuel invaded the victim’s residence around 7 p.m. after she rejected their sexual advances.

“We wanted her to give us sex, she refused. We went to her house around 7 p.m. I had sex with her two times, Emmanuel had once. After that, I hit her with a stick. I didn’t know Emmanuel returned with a knife to kill her,” Okonkwo reportedly stated.

The suspect further claimed that Emmanuel later used a knife on the victim after they had assaulted her.

Community sources said the suspect was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend the second suspect who remains at large.

The killing of the nursing student has sparked outrage across the community and on social media, with many calling for swift justice and improved security for students living off-campus.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Imo State Police Command, Henry Okoye, had yet to respond to inquiries as of the time of filing this report.
