Activist and member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Aisha Yesufu, on Saturday joined growing calls for the removal of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Joash Amupitan.

Yesufu said it had become necessary for Amupitan to leave office, accusing him of partisanship.

She stated this in a post on her handle, where she also insisted that the ADC was not in the political space for jokes.

Reacting to recent developments, Yesufu said Nigerians had become more active and responsive to political issues.

She wrote, “I love how active Nigerians have become! #ActiveCitizens.

“I always focus on the little wins. They snowball into the big wins.”

She added that circumstances had changed and that actions which might have gone unchallenged in the past were now being confronted.

Yesufu stated, “Some years ago, Amupitan would have gotten away with what he tried to do.

“At this stage it becomes mandatory that #AmupitanMustGo. My party is not here to play!”

Yesufu also expressed regret that she would not be in the country for her party’s first convention.

According to her, she had already committed to attending a workshop in Brazil.

Yesufu added, “The most painful part of all of this for me is that I will not be in the country for my FIRST party convention.

“I have accepted months ago to be at a workshop in Brazil. ADC Arise.”
