Authorities in Bauchi State have reportedly intercepted a group of teenagers in Bauchi metropolis over an alleged illegal marriage arrangement involving individuals believed to be under the age of 18 and a symbolic bride price of about ₦3,000.

According to reports, the teenagers were found to have staged a marriage-like ceremony involving peers who are reportedly minors. The gathering was reportedly conducted informally and outside recognized legal, religious, or customary frameworks for marriage in Nigeria.

Security personnel and local authorities were said to have intervened after receiving intelligence about the gathering. The teenagers involved, along with some participants who allegedly acted as facilitators, were reportedly taken into custody for questioning.
