According to reports, tragedy struck the very next day. The woman fell into the hands of criminal elements at Obioma in Udi, Enugu State. She was killed by her abductors on Thursday, May 9.
Smith expressed his deep anguish over the incident. In a touching tribute, he mentioned that he never expected the popular phrase “Nigeria happened to me” to become a reality for his family.
He described his late mother as a queen who was taken away too soon. The grieving son lamented that no one deserves to lose their life in such a cruel manner. He identified the deceased as Ngozi Josephine Udobi Eze nneoma.
