Simeon’s child, whose gender wasn’t stated by the abductors, was born on Thursday.
“We were called this afternoon that one of the female adoptees gave birth in the hands of her captors, with her legs chained like a slave,” Ariko told FIJ.
“The woman who gave birth has no clothes to cover the baby, nor water to clean herself and the baby. They have been under the sun and in the rain all these weeks.”
He said that while the bandits allowed him to speak with the others in captivity, they are still insisting on the N1 billion and 35 motorcycles ransom.
“They said we must pay these demands or forget about our people. Meanwhile, our people are passing through pains.”
FIJ reported on April 25 that the abductors of the 37 worshippers from Ariko Community,
Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State, updated their ransom demands to include 20 of a motorcycle brand locally called Boko Haram, 15 Bajaj bikes and N1 billion.
They had initially demanded only N1 billion several weeks after their abduction.
The worshippers taken from St. Augustine Catholic Church and Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), in Ariko, are all in
Rijana Forest, a kidnapping camp along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
FIJ did not find any updates from the state government or police about their rescue.
The abductees have now spent 34 days in captivity since their abduction on April 5.
