Sixteen people have been confirmed dead after a tragic road accident along the Lokoja-Okene highway in Kogi State on Friday morning.

The Kogi State FRSC Sector Commander, Lawal Fagge, confirmed that 22 people were inside the bus when the driver reportedly lost control and the vehicle plunged off a bridge. He said 16 passengers died in the crash, while a few others survived with serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities blamed the accident on over-speeding and driver fatigue. The bodies of the victims were later deposited at a morgue in Lokoja. The incident has once again raised concerns over reckless driving and frequent accidents on Nigerian highways.
