Newborn Baby Allegedly Sold for ₦4.5 Million in Imo Rescued by Police After VDM’s Intervention

A newborn baby allegedly stolen and sold shortly after birth in Imo State has been rescued by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force following the intervention of social media activist, Martin Vincent Otse.
The incident, which has generated widespread reactions across social media platforms, reportedly involved the alleged sale of the baby to a lawyer for about ₦4.5 million before the child was recovered and reunited with the biological mother. WATCH VIDEO ON IG

VDM, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, disclosed that he escalated the matter to the Special Tactical Squad (STS) of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja, prompting an immediate investigation into the alleged child trafficking case.
During the operation, police operatives reportedly arrested a suspect in Imo State who allegedly confessed during interrogation that the baby had been sold to a lawyer based in Lagos State.
Security operatives were thereafter said to have tracked the buyer and successfully recovered the newborn during a follow-up operation in Lagos.
The child has since been handed over to the mother, while investigations into the alleged trafficking syndicate and other individuals connected to the case are said to be ongoing.
The development has sparked outrage among Nigerians online, with many expressing shock over the alleged involvement of a legal practitioner in the purchase of the baby.
