According to reports, the girl was found strangled to death inside a Kansas City motel room. The father has been charged with the murder.
The 40-year-old Jerry Bausby appeared before a Jackson County judge, who entered a not guilty plea for Bausby, who is in the process of waiting for a defense attorney. His cash bond was set at $750,000.
Bausby was charged with murder in the first degree. He was also charged with sodomy, incest and sexual assault.
Before her death, the intelligent girl was preparing to attend Grambling State University after receiving more than a dozen offers to attend various universities.
